How to track attainments and performance metrics

In Centify, created targets are evaluated and displayed as Attainments. Attainment shows how an employee, leader, or team is performing against defined targets over a specific period.

An employee can be assigned to multiple targets at the same time. As a result, you may see multiple attainment entries for a single employee, each reflecting progress toward a different goal.

Types of Attainment (Credit Types)

Centify distinguishes between three types of attainment, depending on how performance is measured and attributed.

Individual Attainment

Individual attainment measures the personal performance of an employee. This reflects only the deals and results directly attributed to that employee.

For example, individual attainment may track how many deals the employee has won or the total deal value they have generated during the target period. This type of attainment is commonly used for sales representatives whose commission and performance are based on their own results.

Leadership Attainment

Leadership attainment measures performance based on the results of a team. This is often referred to as roll-up performance, where a team leader’s attainment reflects the combined performance of their assigned team members.

Team assignments are managed in the User & Teams section. For example, if two team members are assigned to a team leader and each closes one deal, both deals contribute to the leader’s attainment. This allows Centify to accurately reflect leadership performance based on team outcomes.

Team Attainment

Team attainment measures performance against a shared team target. In this case, all relevant deals and results from team members contribute to a single, collective attainment value.

This type of attainment is useful when performance goals are defined at the team level rather than individually. You can view team structures and assignments in the User & Teams section.

Target Schedules and Year-To-Date (YTD) View

Targets in Centify can be defined for different time periods, such as monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Attainment automatically reflects the defined target period and adjusts accordingly.

You can use the date selector in the top-right corner to navigate between past, current, and future periods. This allows you to review attainment progress over time.

Next to the date selector, you will find a dropdown menu set to “Default”. This controls how attainment progress is displayed and allows you to switch between different cumulative views.

The Default view shows attainment progress within the selected target period. For example, if an employee has a monthly target of €10,000 and achieves €10,000 in January, the Default view will show 100% attainment for that month.

If you switch to the Quarter-to-Date view, Centify displays cumulative progress across the entire quarter. As you navigate from January to February and March, the total target value increases to reflect the full quarterly target. The employee’s achievement is then evaluated against this cumulative target.

When the next quarter begins, the cumulative target resets, and attainment starts again from zero for the new quarter.

Similarly, the Year-to-Date view displays cumulative performance across the entire year. This allows you to understand how employees, leaders, or teams are progressing toward annual goals.

These different views provide valuable insight into both short-term and long-term performance trends.

Viewing Attainment Details

You can view detailed information about any attainment by clicking on the corresponding entry. This opens a detailed panel with additional insights.

In the Deals tab, you can see all deals that contributed to the attainment. This view also shows how much each deal contributed to the total attainment, including the proportional impact where applicable.

In some cases, deals may appear in red with a crossed-out value. This indicates that a clawback rule has been applied to the underlying target. For example, if a deal is cancelled, its value may be removed from the attainment calculation, even retroactively. This ensures that attainment always reflects accurate and valid performance.

Visualizing Performance Trends

The Chart tab provides a graphical representation of attainment over time. This allows you to see how performance has developed throughout the target period and identify trends, peaks, or slow periods.

This visualization can help you better understand performance patterns, including seasonal effects or performance changes. These insights can be useful when evaluating incentive structures or identifying opportunities to improve performance through targeted incentives.
